An invitation to share your love for literature in a different way
A book without owner builds its own story while passing from hand to hand.
Join this community, read an unowned book and pass it on.
How does it work?
Physical books are passed on in person between readers in the community.
When a reader possesses a book and wants to make it available to anyone the reader registers the book in the catalog and the book no longer has an owner. When another reader requests an unowned book they arrange to meet to pass the book. The book becomes unavailable until the new reader has finished reading it and makes it available once again to everyone in the community.
The unowned books lifecycle
- A person decides to unown a copy of a book.
- The person register it in the catalog as available to others.
- Another person who wants to read it contacts the person who has the book.
- They meet, pass the book (no spoilers)
- The new reader finished reading the book and makes it available to others.
The unowned book value
- An unowned book has no commercial value to the members of the community.
- Its value is now twofold. Resides in its literary content and also in the acumulating experience of the readers on each iteration of its lifecycle.
- Readers are encouraged to share their insights during and after reading the book.
- The book ‘copy’ becomes unique
